Taking part in this residency, in such a rural part of the world, where nature is the undercurrent of nearly everything in the way of life here, has allowed me to reconnect with a part of myself I had long forgotten. It is a part that needs to be part of the Earth, part of the cycles of life, to walk in the places and spaces, forests, meadows, mountains and seas, to eat from the land, to draw and observe, and to fully immerse in the natural world.
The real question then becomes, how will I bring this back with me to Colorado? In my suburban, busy, unnatural life, how will I connect to nature on a regular basis, and feel part of it in that place, that space?
